Brij Pola Jawai

Apartment-sized luxury tents beside one of Jawai’s own granite leopard hills — one dedicated naturalist per tent, private plunge pools, sky-lit bathrooms and leopard sightings on both morning and evening drives.

ABOUT THIS PROPERTY

Built From One Extraordinary Encounter With Jawai

On their very first visit to Jawai, the founders of Brij Pola experienced what they describe as epic sightings in the jungle — and from that moment, they had a sense that these encounters with the wild should be built over their lifetimes. In March of 2021 the team acquired the land that would become Brij Pola, Jawai. From the outset, they knew they wanted to keep the experience deliberately intimate — a small number of tents, a high guest-to-staff ratio, and multiple extremely knowledgeable naturalists on site even when the property is at capacity, so that each tent is never without dedicated wildlife expertise.

The tents themselves are apartment-sized — 2,500 square feet per unit — a scale that genuinely earns the phrase “small home in the jungle” rather than borrowing it as a marketing device. Everything from the décor to the bed linens is wildlife-inspired and locally sourced: hand-woven carpets, daaris, prints and cane baskets produced by artisans distinctive to Jawai itself. Kota stone flooring and specific local fabrics were selected to help regulate heat naturally, while sky-lit bathrooms, single stone-carved bathtubs with mountain views and open-sky shower cubicles connect the indoor and outdoor experience at every point of daily routine.

The boundary between hotel and jungle at Brij Pola is, by the property’s own deliberate description, “barely there.” The camp sits beside one of Jawai’s own granite leopard hills — the same hills where the property’s resident naturalists have accumulated specific knowledge of individual leopard territories, behaviours and movement patterns over years of daily observation. This knowledge translates directly into the quality of safari experience: leopard sightings were reported on both morning and evening drives across every reviewed stay examined in our research, multiple guests crediting naturalist Devraj Singh and Head Naturalist Ankit by name for the quality of wildlife understanding they brought to each drive.

The wildlife picture at Brij Pola extends well beyond the leopards the camp is known for. Hyenas, sloth bears, chinkaras, nilgai, wolves and crocodiles are all part of the surrounding ecosystem, alongside over 100 species of migratory birds during the winter months. The Aravalli range — the oldest mountain range in India, its granite hills formed by molten lava over a billion years ago — provides a geological backdrop of its own kind of grandeur, separate from any wildlife sighting.

The all-inclusive tariff — meals, safaris, activities — means the financial dimension of the stay effectively disappears on arrival, allowing guests to focus entirely on the experience rather than individual costs. The dining programme spans local traditional fare, American, Chinese and French cuisine across the property’s restaurant, with personalised barbecue evenings on tent sit-out areas, meals served under banyan trees in the middle of the forest, and a nightly dinner setup that multiple TripAdvisor reviewers have specifically described as magical.

WHY LEVISTAY RECOMMENDS THIS

Brij Pola earned its Privé listing on the strength of two things that genuinely set it apart from a crowded Jawai camp market: the scale of the tents — 2,500 square feet, apartment-sized, stone-carved bathtubs, sky-lit bathrooms — and the naturalist model, one dedicated expert per tent regardless of capacity. These are not marketing phrases; they are the two details most consistently mentioned by independent guest reviewers without prompting. We recommend Brij Pola to guests who want the Jawai leopard experience, without conceding on the quality of wildlife knowledge or the privacy of the tent experience.

ACCOMMODATION AT BRIJ POLA JAWAI

Two Categories. One Remarkably Spacious Interpretation of Luxury.

Two accommodation categories — each 2,500 square feet, each designed around local materials, local artisans and local wildlife — with the option to add a private plunge pool for guests who want the wilderness completely on their own terms.

PREMIUM CATEGORY • 2,500 SQ FT + PRIVATE POOL

Luxury Tent with Plunge Pool

Identical in footprint and design language to the Luxury Tent — the same stone-carved bathtub, the same sky-lit bathroom, the same locally sourced hand-woven textiles — with the addition of a private plunge pool on the sit-out area. For guests who want the option to move between the wilderness view and the water entirely privately, without sharing a pool area with the wider camp. Several TripAdvisor reviewers who stayed in this category specifically cite the experience of sitting by the private pool as the sunset drops behind the Aravalli range as one of the most memorable parts of their entire India trip.

Luxury Tent

At 2,500 square feet, the Luxury Tent is large enough to be a small home in the jungle — and it was deliberately designed to feel exactly that way. Everything from the décor to the bed linens is wildlife-inspired, crafted using hand-woven carpets, daaris, prints and cane baskets produced by artisans local to Jawai itself. A king-size bed, separate sitting and living areas, a sky-lit bathroom with a single stone-carved bathtub offering a mountain view, and an open-sky shower cubicle connect daily routine to the surrounding landscape at every moment. The spacious sit-out area can be configured for spa treatments, personalised dining, barbecue evenings or simply stargazing — Kota stone flooring and locally sourced fabrics regulate the tent’s temperature naturally through the day.

Where Every Experience Begins With Someone Who Knows the Land

The experience programme at Brij Pola is built around one structural decision: one dedicated naturalist assigned to each tent, regardless of how many other tents are occupied. Every activity listed below is experienced alongside someone who has accumulated deep, specific knowledge of this exact landscape — not a shared guide stretched across multiple groups.

Tracking Leopards Through Their Own Territory

Every stay revolves around two safari drives each day, timed to coincide with the hours when Jawai's leopards are naturally most active. Travelling in customised 4x4 vehicles alongside dedicated naturalists, guests explore granite kopjes, seasonal riverbeds and rocky caves where generations of leopards have established territories. Rather than following fixed safari circuits, every drive adapts to fresh tracks, recent sightings and changing wildlife movement across the landscape.

Understanding the People Who Share This Wilderness

Long before Jawai became known internationally for leopard safaris, the Rabari community had already been living alongside these cats for centuries. Guided walks introduce guests to this remarkable coexistence through conversations with shepherd families, traditional livestock practices and stories passed down through generations—offering an understanding of Jawai that no vehicle alone can provide.

Looking Beyond the Leopard

While Jawai's leopards draw global attention, the surrounding ecosystem supports far greater biodiversity. Guided walks reveal migratory birds, raptors, reptiles and native flora often overlooked during safari drives. For photographers and naturalists, these slower explorations frequently become some of the most rewarding hours of the stay.

Every Meal Becomes Part of the Journey

Dining changes location as naturally as the landscape itself. Breakfast may be served after sunrise in the wilderness, lunch beneath the shade of ancient trees, and dinner beside a private campfire or on the veranda of your own tent. Barbecue evenings can be arranged exclusively for individual guests, allowing each meal to feel personal rather than scheduled.

The Landscape Sets the Pace

Between game drives, guests can unwind beside the swimming pool, enjoy spa treatments arranged on their private veranda, or simply watch the changing light move across Jawai's granite hills. Here, luxury is measured less by activity and more by the rare opportunity to do absolutely nothing while surrounded by wilderness.

One Of Rajasthan's Clearest Night Skies

With almost no light pollution, Jawai reveals a spectacular night sky throughout much of the year. Using the camp's telescope—or simply lying back beneath the stars—guests experience another side of the wilderness, one that begins only after the leopards retreat into the darkness.

Why We Listed
Brij Pola Jawai

✦ PASSED   ·   ✧ PASSED WITH NOTES   ·   ✕ NOT MET

✦ The Story Test — Passed: Brij Pola’s story is recent rather than centuries old, but it is authentic. The camp was born after its founders experienced Jawai’s wilderness firsthand and chose to build a property shaped by that encounter rather than by scale or commercial ambition. From acquiring the land in 2021 to intentionally limiting the number of tents and assigning one dedicated naturalist to every accommodation, the philosophy behind Brij Pola has remained remarkably consistent. It is a story of thoughtful creation rather than inherited legacy—and it never pretends to be anything else.

✦ The Destination Test — Passed: Everything about Brij Pola is rooted in Jawai itself. The camp sits beside one of the region’s granite leopard hills, with architecture and interiors drawing heavily from local materials and craftsmanship. Wildlife moves freely through the surrounding landscape, Rabari shepherd communities remain part of daily life, and the experience is inseparable from the granite kopjes that define this corner of Rajasthan. Remove Brij Pola from Jawai and the property loses the landscape that gives it meaning.

✦ The Experience Test — Passed: One dedicated naturalist assigned to every tent changes the entire character of a stay. Instead of rotating through different guides, guests spend their time with someone who gradually understands their interests and adapts every safari accordingly. Combined with twice-daily leopard drives, Rabari village visits, bush dining, birdwatching, nature walks and evenings beneath exceptionally dark skies, Brij Pola offers a wilderness experience that feels personal rather than programmed.

✦ The Luxury Test — Passed: Luxury here is expressed through generosity of space rather than excess. Apartment-sized tents, handcrafted interiors, stone-carved bathtubs, private plunge pools, personalised dining and an unusually attentive staff-to-guest ratio create an experience that feels intimate instead of elaborate. Brij Pola succeeds because comfort never distracts from the wilderness—it quietly supports it.

✦ The Pride Test — Passed: We would recommend Brij Pola without hesitation to guests seeking an intimate luxury safari in Jawai, particularly couples, honeymooners and travellers who value exceptional guiding alongside beautifully designed accommodation. While SUJÁN Jawai remains our Signature benchmark for conservation-led luxury, Brij Pola confidently establishes itself as one of Jawai’s finest boutique wilderness camps—offering remarkable privacy, outstanding hospitality and one of the strongest naturalist programmes in the region.

Questions About This Stay

Absolutely. In fact, we think it is one of the easiest introductions to the destination. The camp combines luxurious accommodation with an unusually personal safari programme, thanks to its dedicated naturalist model. Guests unfamiliar with wildlife travel often appreciate having the same expert accompanying them throughout their stay, gradually tailoring each experience to their interests rather than following a fixed itinerary.

For couples, honeymooners and special celebrations, we recommend the Luxury Tent with Private Plunge Pool. The additional privacy transforms the time between safari drives, allowing guests to enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness from their own pool.

For guests focused primarily on wildlife experiences, the Luxury Tent delivers exactly the same generous living space, handcrafted interiors and safari programme, making it exceptional value within the Jawai luxury market.

No responsible safari operator can guarantee wildlife sightings, as Jawai’s leopards live completely free across an unfenced landscape. That said, Brij Pola’s experienced naturalists spend every day tracking individual territories and recent movements, giving guests an excellent opportunity to encounter leopards during both morning and evening drives while also introducing them to the region’s broader wildlife and birdlife.

Its philosophy is unusually personal. With only a limited number of apartment-sized tents, one dedicated naturalist assigned to every accommodation and a strong emphasis on local craftsmanship, Brij Pola feels less like a conventional safari lodge and more like a private wilderness retreat. Rather than competing through size, it focuses on space, personalised guiding and thoughtful hospitality.

Yes. The spacious layout of every tent provides considerably more room than a typical luxury hotel suite, making family stays comfortable without feeling confined. Nature walks, village visits, birdwatching and safari drives also allow younger guests to experience Jawai beyond simply searching for leopards.

Because it consistently delivers one of Jawai’s most intimate luxury safari experiences. The generous accommodation, dedicated naturalist programme, locally inspired design and highly personalised service create a property that comfortably meets our standards for the Privé Collection. We particularly recommend it to travellers looking for exceptional wildlife experiences without moving into the higher price bracket of our Signature Collection.
