Where Rajasthan built its identity around desert trade routes and sand-hued fortresses, the Majestic North was shaped by geography and extreme seasonal weather—high-mountain passes closed by winter snow for half the year, ancient trade tracks crossing into Tibet, and sacred river systems originating in glacial ice.
Hospitality across these four territories developed around very specific human intentions rather than generic tourism. British administrators established hill stations like Shimla to escape the summer heat of the plains, building timbered estates surrounded by native cedar forests.
