Originally the private residence of Lord G.H. Faber and later purchased by Lord Kitchener in 1893, the estate served as a secluded summer refuge for the Commander-in-Chief of the British Indian Army. Following a complete architectural rebuild by the Oberoi Group after a fire destroyed the original timber building, the present resort opened to re-establish one of the most famous mountain addresses in the Himalayas.
